Communication for Further Cooperation: Delegation from Poland Visits GDUFS

On the morning of December 9th 2016, a delegation from Poland paid a visit to GDUFS. FANG Fanquan, GDUFS’s former Vice President,received them in the VIP Hall of the Administrative Building on the North Campus. Later, a fantastic forum was held in Room 203 of Teaching Building Six, where a heated discussionwas conducted by the delegation and the teachers and students who study Polish in Faculty of European Languages and Cultures.

Afterwarm greetings, AndezejStanislawek, President of the SenatorialNational Economy and Innovation Council,first stated that the experts in the delegation came from different working fields,and he thought that both Poland and China should strengthenties in economics, medicine, administration and so on. He said that he himself is a medical professor, so he also wants further cooperation in medical fieldssuch as Chinese herbal medicine.

Wioletta Porowska

Wioletta Porowska, Lieutenant GovernorofOpolskie(a Polish province) also gave an affirmation of the contributions on teaching made by the Confucius Institute inOpolskie. Then she welcomed GDUFS to attend a communicationforum between Poland and China next year.

Ewa Leniart

Ewa Leniart,Lieutenant Governor of Podkarpackie(a Polish province) expressed her idea of settingup a Chinese teaching major next year in a Polish university with a “2+2”pattern, which means that Polish students can study Chinese for two years in Poland and then come to China for further studies for the next two years.

Zbigniew Rau

Zbigniew Rau,Lieutenant Governor ofódzkie(a Polish province) also said that he had learned a lot from China and was quite impressed with the open cooperative environmentin China, and therefore revealedthat he had a positive attitude towards a mutual cooperation.

 

 

FANG Fanquan

After listening carefully to their speeches, FANG Fanquan also introduced GDUFS to the delegation briefly. He pointed out that GDUFS is at the forefront in foreign languages and applied linguistics among Chinese universities andone of the teaching features of GDUFS is the great integration of English and various majors. Moreover, giventhat Poland plays an increasingly important role in the world and that Guangdong has developed rapidly.In 2014, GDUFS set up the Polish Language Major to support the “the Belt and Road”Initiative,which made it possible for further mutual communication.

The Delegation Praised the Beauty of GDUFS

Heated & Interesting Discussion When stepping into Room 203, Teaching Building Six, the delegation was welcomed with thunderousapplause by the students studying Polish. The 39 students expressed their gladnessby singing a Polish traditional song called O Mnie SięNie Martw and dancing to another song called Polanez. The delegation was surprisedand delighted to see the wonderful performance. Then they began to talk with the students on topics like theirfeelings about learning Polish, theirimpression ofPoland, theirfuture plansand so on. They also encouragedthe students to learn Polish well and be outstanding interpreters one day.

The Students Gave a Welcome Performance

“I’m glad to have the precious chance to talk to the delegation from Poland. Some of us students have been to Poland and they shared their interesting experiencethere. Besides, the delegation is easygoing and they taught us a lot, too. This is a meaningful activity, indeed,”astudent present said.

One of members of the delegation said:“Guangzhou has developed rapidly and it’s amazing that students at GDUFS can have a great commandof Polish in such a short time. We hada good time at the forum and Ibelieve thatwe’ll continually supportthe Confucius Institute in Województwo opolskie, taking the opportunity of the ‘Belt and the Road’Initiative.”
