On June 10th, the delegation of Senior Diplomats fromIndonesia headed by Odo R.M. Manuhutu, Director of the Center for Education and Training from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, visited Guangdong Research Institute for International Studies. Those who attended the forum included YE Xiaohui, China’s Ambassador to Indonesia; YANG Aimin, Vice President of GDUFS; LIU Jisen, Deputy Secretary General of Guangdong Research Institute for International Studies, and CHEN Hanxi, Deputy Secretary General of Guangdong Research Institute for International Studies.

YANG Aimin briefly introduced the history, distinctive features and future objective of GDUFS and Guangdong Research Institute for International Studies. He also pointed out it was the Ancient Maritime Silk Route that helped build the bridge of peace. There exists vast potential for Indonesia and China in the light of the close economic exchanges and the Ancient Maritime Silk Route. Mutually beneficial cooperation should be strengthened with the help of the continual communication between Indonesia and GDUFS.

Odo R.M. Manuhutu expressed that his focus on Chinese research was attributed to his great interest in the adventure of ZHENG He, a Chinese ancient navigator. It is his ardent anticipation that both sides can reach a consensus on China’s One Belt One Road and Indonesia's Global Marine Pivot Strategy.

Both sides also had a broad and in-depth exchange of views on such concerns as the new International order and prospects for Indonesia-Guangdong cooperation.
