North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, November 24th 2017: On the afternoon of November 23rd , the Peruvian Consul General, Mr. David Gamarra, along with his delegation visited GDUFS. The Vice President of GDUFS, JIAO Fangtai, received the guests in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building.
Talks between both sides
JIAO Fangtai extended the warmest welcome to the Consul General, Mr. Gamarra. He then mentioned that GDUFS attached great importance to the cooperation with Peru. Besides, projects like exchanging the students and the scholars with Peru to communicate and establishing the Peruvian Confucius Institute have been fruitful. He expects that the Spanish Major of GDUFS will make great progress and there will be a remarkable breakthrough with the help of Peruvian Consulate General.
Consul General Gamarra stated that China and Peru have a close relationship with each other. Chinese culture has a profound influence on Peruvian culture. Nowadays more and more Peruvians are interested in learning Chinese while Chinese students are welcome to go to Peru to study and communicate. He also looks forward to strengthening the cooperation with GDUFS and hopes that the scholars from both sides can launch some research projects together, discussing the topics like “The Influence of Chinese in Peruvian Society”.
After the meeting, the Consul General with his delegation went to the 2nd Teaching Building to give a lecture called The Journey of Peruvian Culture to the students of the Spanish major, introducing the gorgeous culture of Peru.
The Vice Dean of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, YI Zongyong and the Vice Dean of the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures, YANG Xiaomin, also attended the meeting.
