North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, November 26th 2018：In the Grand Yunshan Hall at GDUFS, the 2018 Charming Guangzhou, Living My Dreams International Students Gala, hosted by Guangzhou Public Diplomacy Association, Guangdong People’ s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Guangdong Education Association for International Exchange, organized by GDUFS and Guangdong Association of Higher Education – Foreign Students Working Committee– was held successfully. Nearly 800 foreign students from 48 countries joined the event. The Gala built a cultural platform by putting on wonderful performances and it called on foreign students to have deeper sights of China, to adapt to the living in Guangzhou, and to deepen communication with each other.

On behalf of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the Guangdong Public Diplomacy Association, LI Xin, the Vice Chairman of Guangdong Provincial Committee of CPPCC, expressed her utmost congratulations on the gala. She stated that China has been providing abundant opportunities for foreign students to further their studies. She sincerely hoped that foreign students can gain benefits during their stay in China, and become the cultural bridges uniting two nations, which can help promote co-development and prosperity in diverse fields, eventually building a community with a shared future for mankind.

SUI Guangjun, Chairman of University Board, briefly introduced some relevant information about GDUFS’s international features. He pointed out that a higher level of foreign education can be attributed to the strategies of international development. As SUI added, the gala was a perfect stage for people to experience Chinese culture, Also, it can build a solid foundation to mutually deepen understandings of different cultures. During his speech, he called on various schools to stay committed to the spirit of partnership featuring better education, services and management, hoping it will make contributions to a promising international education career.

And then, the International Students' Art Performances Competition raised its curtain with a dance named Lift Your Veil showed by the Art College of GDUFS. Next were brilliant shows given by Sun Yat-sen University, the Encountering Makes It Touching; South China Normal University, the Maritime Silk Road; Guangzhou University of TCM, the I Love You China; etc. From ancient China to the magnificent blueprint of the future; from the legends of historical heroes to their own stories of learning Chinese; from the dynamic stage shows to the heart-touching recitation, each presentation delivered the international students’ resolution of becoming the witness, the disseminator and the practitioner of cultural communication.

The first prize of this competition went to four marvelous shows — Xiaoya Caiwei from Sun Yat-sen University; This Is Us from South China University of Technology; Classics on Bamboo-tubefrom Jinan University;and Lake Baikal - I Love You Chinafrom Shenzhen University.

At the end of the event, the flag of “the Exchange Activities for International Students in Guangdong” was transmitted from JIAO Fangtai, the Vice Principal of GDUFS, to FU Lang, the Executive Vice President of Guangdong Public diplomacy Association. And then FU Lang passed it on the Vice Principal WEN Mingang from Southern Medical University, which will be the undertaker of the event in 2019.

Embodying the energy and creation of university students, the event provided a platform for international students in Guangdong to carry forward their own culture as well as understand the traditional Chinese culture, achieving personal goals in this coexisting harmonious society. Attendances of the event were the sponsor, the undertaker, the co-organizers, the supporters and the students from the 2018 Public Diplomacy Seminar jointly held by Public Diplomacy Associations from Guangdong, Shanghai, Qingtian and other cities.
