Three officers of Lancaster University, U.K., Ben Matthews, Director of Opportunities; Sarah Hinton, Deputy Director of Opportunities and Kimberly Warrillow, International Opportunities Intern, visited IIE on April 19thto discuss details of a study program to be hosted by IIE in September, 2012. Present at the meeting representing IIE were Mr. Liang Xuehong, Dean; MS. Wu Yan, Office Manager, and MS. Zhou Quan, Program Coordinator.
Dean Liang made a brief introduction of the development of education for international students at GDUFS. MS. Wu and MS. Zhou offered a proposed program schedule consisting of language learning, company visits, government institution visits and volunteering activities. Both sides actively discussed the program and reached an agreement in the end.
Lancaster University has three overseas partner institutions in Malaysia, India and China, dedicated to the conduct of program for its students. In China, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies is its host campus.
Previously, the two sides held a video conference related to this study tour program under the arrangements by the International Office, GDUFS., which served to prepare the way for this meeting.
GDUFS and Lancaster University enjoy a long-lasting collaborative relationship with each other. The two universities have accumulated much experience in this field since 1990s.
Last year, the two sides decided to jointly establish a new university campus in Nansha district, Guangzhou.
