On November 16th, Chinese Cultural Weekwas inagurated by theConfucius Institute at the Catholic University of Saint Mary in Peru on thePlaza de San Francisco inArequipa. The celebration marked the beginning of a series of activities honoring Chinese Cultural Week. The teachers and volunteers of GDUFS related to theConfucius Institute also took part in the performance.
Folk dance performance
A variety of other activities, including calligraphy demonstrations, music performances and book as well as picture exhibitions also took place. In front of the Chinese food stall, a constant stream of visitors tried the Chinese cuisine and spoke highly of the taste.
Dragon dance performance
During the following days of the Chinese Cultural Week,the Confucius Institute had arranged three lectures on topics of interest. The teachers of the institute will present a comprehensive overview about many aspects of China in Spanish, including the history, culture and education system of China, Chinese geography, folk culture, as well as the economic and social development of high interest to the students at the university. The lectures have attracted numerous people and the audiences have raised various questions with great enthusiasm. They say that, after listening to the lectures, they felt and expressed their strong desire to have a better understanding about China and its culture.
During the Chinese Cultural Week, the Confucius Institute played Chinese films and showed some photographs reflecting the tremendous changes in China, all winning extensive appreciation from the local people.
