President Zhong firstly gave a warm welcome to all attending the ceremony. He pointed out that 2014 is the Year for the China-Russia Youth Exchange, determined by Chairman XI Jinping and President Putin and therefore this GDUFS winter camp represents a remarkable part of the Youth Exchange program. Furthermore, President Zhong expressed the expectation that all students would be proactive in the course of their studies, thinking for themselves and questioning ideas and concepts presented frequently. Too, he hoped that students could play an active role in communication and interaction, paving the way for building a
bridge
of
Chinese
and Russian friendship.

Professor WU Jun spoke in Russian at the opening ceremony, reviewing the establishing process of the China-Russia University of Economics Union and its objectives citing the great significance and main content of the programs. She emphasized that members of the union are going to work on elite cultivation, student exchanges, teachers' mutual visits, technological innovation and community service projects in hopes of coordinating educational resources and cultivating highly-educated and well-rounded people as a way to develop a long-term mechanism for China-Russia youth exchange.
