On December 21st, the GDUFS Wind Band staged their annual concert on campus, one known as the GDUFS New Year's Concert, to mark the change of years. This year, the concert, presented by The GDUFS Youth League, was held in Yushan Hall. President ZHONG Weihe, with former President XU Zhenhua joining the event and Mr.TANG Guang, the leading trumpet player in the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, attended the concert as the invited conductor of the GDUFS Wind Band.

The Carnival of Roses Overture, created a great start for the concert. The Wind Band is formed of the wood wind instruments, brass wind instruments and stringed instruments of the orchestra. Under the command of the conductor, band members weaved a wonderful melody to describe the joy of the festival.

The concert was composed of multiple and colorful elements. Classical and modern pieces of music, played together, creating a whole new vision of the moment. Western and Chinese-type music collided here-and-there to create a fascinating mix for all the audience. There were Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt, Suite No.2 for flute and clarinet, Taylor Swift's Love Story for piano and cello and even the theme music of the Sister Act and of the Lion King. Accompanied by trumpet and jazz drum, the sprightly rhythm jumped up and became more lively on the stage. When the wood wind instruments appeared, the concert stepped into the traditional Chinese part. Folk music like Jasmine and
Plum
were sung in the traditional soprano form of the Chinese culture.

The Wind Band of Sun Yat-sen University was one of those invited here to celebrate the New Year. The two bands collaboratd to bring us the famous sounds of Western Dawn and Coldplay's Viva La Vida, which brought together the cooperation and friendship established by the two universities in respect to the music celebrating these important moments.

Concluding all, with a dance by the twin sisters, the Sound of Music vividly displayed the profound talent of the Wind Band. The audience echoed their desire for an endoure. Tequila was an inspired choice. The concert closed on the music of the universitiy anthem, with the best wishes for every staff and student in the New Year.
