On the afternoon of March 27th, the China Forum, with the theme of "Perspectives on Love and Marriage", opened at Teaching Building 7 of the north campus of GDUFS. International students from the Institute for International Education and Chinese students from
and International Business discussed and presented their views on love and marriage.
The forum began with an interview during which, both Chinese and international students gave their opinions when questioned by the host. When asked what is the most important factor in a relationship, three out of four students being interviewed answered "trust" and one student answered "respect".

The second session consisted of a group discussion and presentation. Students were grouped and, after discussion, each group made a presentation presenting their views on different issues related to love and marriage. On the topic of blind dating, a Chinese student regarded such an act as risky while an international student in the same group considered it a good way to get to know more friends. Another group listed the causes of gamophobia (fear of marriage), as fear of responsibility and poor economic conditions among others.
The forum ended with interactive games, which fueled the atmosphere, adding laughter to the meeting. This event was the "launch", or first time, the China Forum of GDUFS has been held. As Dean of Institute for International Education, LIANG Xuehong, pointed out, the forum provided a platform for students of different cultural backgrounds to brainstorm, exchange ideas and to deepen mutual understanding. According to the Global Society, other such forums will be held in the following months.
