On 20th July, Grigorios Tassiopoulos, the Consul General of Greece in Guangzhou, paid a visit to GDUFS. President ZHONG Weihe warmly received the guest at the VIP Reception Hall on the north campus, along with the President of the Faculty of European Language and Culture, YANG Keji, and officials from the International Cooperation and Exchange Department.

President ZHONG expressed his sincere welcome to the Consul General of Greece in Guangzhou. He introduced, according to the enrollment plan, that the number of the first intake of students of the Greek language major at GDUFS adds up to 12, and the classes will start in September this year. At that time, the university will hold an opening ceremony as well as “Greece Culture Week” series. President ZHONG sincerely appreciated the consistent support from the Greek Consulate in Guangzhou, and he hoped to strengthen mutual cooperation and exchange.
Grigorios Tassiopoulos put forward detailed recommendations on the opening ceremony of the Greek classes and Greece Culture Week series. In order to promote understanding of Greek history and culture, the Greek Consulate in Guangzhou hoped to cooperate with GDUFS to jointly invite Greek artists to perform on the campus, set up lectures, film screenings as well as promote the Greek Culture Week series.
