On July 22nd, members of the Confucius Institute at Sapporo University gathered together and attended a meeting, of which all members were able to share their Chinese learning achievements and exchange their personal experiences.

Before the meeting started, Vice President of the Confucius Institute reviewed the development of the Confucius Institute over the past few years. He noted that students should make best use of this unique academic exchange platform and make consistent efforts to improve their Chinese and deepen their understanding of Chinese culture.
The meeting was divided into two parts. In the first part, nine students were invited to present what they had learned with the help of the Confucius Institute. Beginners amazed the audience with their fluent and accurate short passage reading and text reciting, while the intermediate class got a huge round of applause as they delivered impressing speeches in Chinese. A few students also performed Chinese songs with style and flair.

The second part of the meeting was all about communication between students and teachers. Students who had taken part in the tour of China’s World Cultural Heritage recollected their unforgettable experience in China by showing gorgeous photos of the precious heritage. The other students were profoundly impressed by the attractive yet mysterious landscape of China and expressed their burning desire to participate in activities organised by the Confucius Institute. YU Liuyi, President of Confucius Institute, not only set a high value on students’ learning achievements, but also exchanged his learning methods with students. WANG Tianjin, a volunteer teacher, sang a section of Henan opera Mulan.

Over the past few years, the Confucius Institute at Sapporo University has always been committed to promoting the Chinese language and culture, and more and more students are benefiting from the activities held by the Confucius Institute.
