SUI Guangjun expressed his warm welcome to the delegation and briefly introduced GDUFS. With increasingly frequent exchanges between Iran and China, he said, people who are familiar with Farsi (the language of Iran) are particularly vital and rare. Therefore, GDUFS set up the Farsi Major in 2017 aiming to produce excellent people who are well versed in Farsi and Iranian culture. So far, GDUFS has established a long-term cooperation and exchange with the University of Isfahan in Iran. SUI Guangjun hoped there would be deeper cooperation in different fields and forms with more Iranian universities.
Khalil Shirgholami mentioned that Iran is an important country along the Belt and Road closely related to China. GDUFS, as an open and high-internationalized university, has a strong appeal to Iranian universities. And he hoped to promote the cooperation between the two from education to cultural exchange. In addition, Khalil Shirgholami expected to talk over subjects like economic policies of the two countries and international hot issues.
Also attending the talk were CHEN Duoyou, Dean of the Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures, and relevant directors of departments including the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange.
