North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, October 15th 2018: Robert Koopman, WTO Chief Economist, Director of the Bureau of Economic Research and Statistics, visited GDUFS and was appointed as a member of the Expert Committee of the International Institute for Innovation of GDUFS. SHI Youqi, President of GDUFS, greeted the guests in the Reception Hall in the Administration Building where the two sides held a discussion on international governance, talent training and international organization internship.
The meeting went well
During the meeting, SHI expressed his welcome for Robert Koopman’s first visit and presented GDUFS to the guests with a brief introduction, which mentioned the specific situation of the Institute of the International Governance Innovation. He pointed out that the Institute of International Governance Innovation at GDUFS aimed at cultivating comprehensive high-end talents with global perspectives. Although it has not existed for long, it has achieved fruitful results. SHI thanked Robert Koopman for sharing his views on hot issues in international governance, providing valuable information on the application, and selection of international organizations for teachers and students, which greatly promote discipline construction and talent cultivation at GDUFS.
Robert Koopman said that in challenges faced by the international society, as well as the process of in-depth communication with teachers and students, the teachers and students had demonstrated excellent academic literacy. He strongly agrees with the practice of sending students to study and internships, and is more than willing to provide relevant information to help the students go to international organizations for internships.
