On the morning of March 24, Ruben Espinoza, Consul General of the Consulate General of Peru in Guangzhou, together with his delegation, visited GDUFS. Jiao Fangtai, vice president of the university, welcomed the guests in the VIP Hall of the administration building of the Baiyunshan campus. The two sides exchanged views on talent training and cultural exchange.
During the meeting
Jiao Fangtai introduced the brief situation of the school, as well as the program for Spanish's training and Peruvian students. He pointed out that the Spanish major of of GDUFS is the oldest and largest undergraduate and master's program teaching Spanish in Southern China. The University attaches great importance to cooperation with Peruvian universities and has signed framework cooperation agreements with many well-known universities in Peru.
The Confucius Institute, jointly established by the university and the Catholic University of Santa Maria de Peru, has been awarded the UNESCO Blue Shield for World Cultural Protection. The Institute of International Students is one of the first batch of Confucius Institute Scholarship receiving institutions designated by Hanban. Jaio said Peru has a profound history and culture, and China and Peru have a long history of exchanges. He expressed his willingness to strengthen exchange and cooperation with Peruvian universities in the future and write a beautiful chapter in the development of higher education between China and Peru.
Ruben Espino praised the achievements of the Spanish program and the cultivation of international students, expressing his appreciation to GDUFS for cultivating such a large number of outstanding Spanish graduates, helping to build a bridge of cultural exchanges between China and Peru. In the future, he hoped to continue to promote cooperation and exchanges with GDUFS, and provide new impetus for enhancing the friendship between the two countries.
Officials from the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation, the College of Western Languages and Cultures, the College of International Students and other relevant institutions attended the meeting. After the meeting, the visiting delegation held discussions with the Confucius Institute Office, the School of Spanish Language and the Institute for International Students.
