On the morning of December 6, Bogumila Kaniewska, President of the Adam Mickiewicz University (UAM) visited Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Shi Youqi, Secretary of the Party Committee of GDUFS, met with guests in the VIP hall of the Administration Building of the Baiyunshan Campus. Jiao Fangtai, Vice President of GDUFS, exchanged views on deepening cooperation.

Shi Youqi welcomed Bogumila Kaniewska and gave a detailed introduction to the general development, international exchanges, and the development of the Polish major in GDUFS. He said that the Polish major is one of the first selected national first-class undergraduate major construction sites in China, and it is also the only Polish undergraduate major approved by the Ministry of Education in South China, with qualified teachers and fruitful scientific research achievements. GDUFS and UAM share a long history of cooperation that has a profound foundation. Since the establishment of a friendly relationship in 2018, the two universities have achieved full coverage of talent training cooperation at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, and he especially thanked UAM for its support and concern for the international talent training of GDUFS. He stressed that the two universities highly cooperate and hoped to further consolidate and deepen the cooperation between the two universities in talent training, academic exchanges, resource sharing, and others in the future, so as to jointly cultivate high-quality talents, and help the cultural exchanges and economic and trade exchanges between China and Poland.
Bogumila Kaniewska thanked GDUFS for its welcome, praised the achievements in the development of the Polish major in GDUFS, and introduced the development of UAM. She said that GDUFS is an important partner of UAM and highly recognized the outstanding performance of the students of GDUFS. It is hoped that through mutually beneficial cooperation in the future, the two universities will further develop international talent training, continue to enhance friendship, and promote cooperation to achieve innovative results.

The delegation also participated in the Polish National Reading Day organized by the Polish Department of the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures and shared the stage with the Polish majors of GDUFS to read selected parts of the classic literary work Nad Niemnem by the outstanding Polish positivist writer Eliza Orzeszkowa and watched the students’performances. The activity stimulated the enthusiasm of Polish teachers and students for literary reading and provided a useful platform for cultural exchanges between China and Poland.
